Referring to letter No.156 of the 8th instant, in which I forwarded a letter from Chief Inspector Corcoran, who is acting Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Assistant Superintendent of the Fire Brigade, asking for four months' vacation leave from the 14th of August with permission to retire at the expiration of his leave, I have the honour to submit the following recommendations for the filling of the acting appointments held by Mr. Corcoran.
